Activities and Resources
Activity/Education Series - All of the activities were developed for parents and their teens. Each activity provides suggestions of different things families can do together, why the activities can strengthen or improve the parent-teen relationship, and things to consider when doing these activities.
Postcard Series - The postcard series offers a short synopis of each activity in the form of a tip of the month, which can be distributed directly to families or professionals working with families.
Video Process Questions - The video process questions were developed to help professionals working with families to start group discussions. Some of the questions focus on issues pertaining to the topic presented in the video, while other questions provide the opportunity to think about a different perspective, such as a parent's perspective or a teen's perspective on the same topic. Additionally, these questions might help parents start discussions with their teens without the involvement of a facilitator.
Other resources for professionals - While researching the available material on parent-teen relationships and interactions, we accumulated a list of multimedia (written, video, and web-based) resources that we think would be helpful. These resources can be used by professionals (especially some of the printed reports) as well as by families.
Dissemination - The suggestions for dissemination are outlined for each branch of the military seperately, and one overall dissemination strategy that could be used for all branches. It provides suggestions on how the Stay Connected materials (written, video, and CD-ROM) could be advertised and distributed to the families directly as well as to the professionals working with families.
