The Workforce Education and Career Assistance Network For You (WECAN4U) is designed to give a diverse audience easy Internet access to workforce information. It was created and designed by the coordinators of the workforce preparation projects in the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Alabama A&M University (AAMU) and Auburn University cooperating) and West Virginia State College.

The site is designed to:

  • Create an easy pathway to workforce information
  • Be a one-stop resource for low-income individuals preparing for the workforce
  • Bridge the digital divide in underserved communities
  • Provide education and training information in Alabama & West Virginia, including secondary institutions
  • Help individuals start a business
  • Provide access and information on the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and the Department of Labor statistics (secondary research)
  • Increase financial literacy

WECAN4U is designed to grow with the needs of its users, especially hard-to-reach citizens who fall in the following categories:

  • Low income (limited resource)
  • Incomplete high school experiences
  • Limited Internet experiences
  • General public

WECAN4U currently gives the user access to:

  • Interactive training provider resources: County maps for Alabama and a research engine for West Virginia
  • Personal money management strategies (budgets, investments, definitions, and interactive calculations)
  • Increased access to workforce, employment, and statistical information in regions of West Virginia and urbanized areas of Alabama
  • Links to government employment opportunities (nationally and internationally)

WECAN4U also provides students on the campuses of West Virginia State College, Alabama A&M University and Auburn University easy access to regular available campus databases and information.

The Workforce Education and Career Assistance Network For You (WECAN4U) is a joint cooperative (Multi-State Agreement) venture between Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Alabama A&M University and Auburn University Cooperating) and West Virginia State College.

WECAN4U is a direct, but non-exhaustive, gateway to aid Internet searches for employment, training, education, and other workforce related information in West Virginia, Alabama, and the nation.
