For medium to large areas, broadcasting a fire ant bait is the most cost-effective and time-efective method for controlling fire ants. This publication explains how fire ant baits are used. It provides information on bait basics, do's and don'ts for applying bait, types of bait application equipment, spreader calibration, and expected results of bait treatment. It also provides a list of commonly available fire ant baits. This is a regional publication, produced with funding from the Southern Region IPM Center and Texas Cooperative Extension.
