Description: |
This program will discuss the ultimate research-based information on the most challenge that affects sustainability and profitability for the small ruminant industry in the Southeastern region of the U.S. that is internal parasite x drug resistance.
In this program, it will be discussed the alternative methods to mitigate internal parasitism in sheep flocks and goat herds including forages and grazing management, and hands-on training on the Modified McMaster technique for fecal examination. Producers can incorporate fecal examination in their management practices as a tool for selection of animal resilience to internal parasitism, and identify parasite drug resistance. Several microscopes and lab materials will be available for producers to learn the technique. |
