Description: I'm excited to announce the Barbour County Extension Office has partnered with the David Mathews Center for Civic Life to provide a series of forums called "What's Next." These forums will involve citizens defining local problems and identifying community-driven solutions by encouraging citizens to talk through issues rather than about them. We will bring the public together in a neutral sit to get everyone's input. This will hopefully help community members find common ground and affect change on the local level. The question we will be asking throughout our upcoming series, "What's Next, Alabama?" We will host three deliberative forums in Eufaula and Louisville, focused on issues of community, workforce, and economic development. These themes will be adapted to each individual community, based on feedback from the community itself, since we understand that the challenges each community faces are unique. Throughout three deliberative forums, the community will come together to think about the future and to ask: (1) Where are we now? (2) Where do we want to go? (3) How do we get there? The dates for these forums is April 12, 19, 26 at 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and 5:30-7:00 in Louisville (location TBA). We are asking for your support to help get community members to these forums so we can begin conversations that will help move Barbour County forward.

Description: A Private Applicator uses or supervises the use of any pesticide for producing any agricultural commodity on property owned or rented, or on the property of another person if applied without compensation. This is a testing period after studying the Study Manual in order to provide the Private Applicator permit to the participant after scoring at least 70. *Additional fee of $25.00 shall be forwarded by the applicant to the Department of Ag for Permit.

Description: The Farming 101 program will held on Thursdays during the month of April at the Autauga County Extension office. The first meeting will be April 5th, and the last meeting will be April 19th. There will be two classes taught each day, one from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m., and one from 12:30 p.m. -" 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required, and the cost per class is $10 ($20 for both classes per day) or $50 for the entire course, and lunch will be provided each day. Please mail the registration fee to the Autauga County Extension Office, 2226 Highway 14 W, Suite E, Autaugaville, Al. 36003. If registering for individual classes, please indicate which class(es). The classes on April 5th are Livestock Management at 10:00 a.m. and Forage Management at 12:30 p.m. On April 12th the classes are Basic Vegetable Production at 10:00 a.m. and Protected Production -" (greenhouse and high tunnel) at 12:30 p.m. The classes on April 19th are Insect Pest Scouting and Management in Using Conventional and Organic (Bioinsecticidal) Approaches at 10:00 a.m. and Fruit Production at 12:30 p.m. Regional Extension Agents and Extension Specialists will be teaching these classes.
