Description: A Private Applicator uses or supervises the use of any pesticide for producing any agricultural commodity on property owned or rented, or on the property of another person if applied without compensation. This is a testing period after studying the Study Manual in order to provide the Private Applicator permit to the participant after scoring at least 70. *Additional fee of $25.00 shall be forwarded by the applicant to the Department of Ag for Permit.

Description: Healthy Homes Dallas County is a project designed to address the need for education to homeowners and renters in Dallas County and the importance of maintaining a healthy home to address issues related to lead poisoning, asthma, and other chronic lung diseases, and allergies (dust, cockroach, vermin). The program will feature a two-day education/training for participants and the recruitment and training of Home Assessors who will work under the supervision of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System-Dallas County to assess and maximize the impact of education, and small low-cost remediation projects for those who participate. The training is scheduled for Thursday, March 15-Friday, March 16, 2018 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the Spire (Alagasco) Community Room. Description: These classes are designed for the farmers who need to take the private pesticide applicator test in order to purchase restricted use products. However, we will be discussing chemical safety and sprayer calibration at this class, so anyone who sprays pesticides on a large scale will benefit from this training even if a restricted pesticide license is not needed. If you would like to attend any of these classes call the Extension Office of the County you want to attend and make your reservation as seating is limited in some locations. A fee of $20 will be charged for this training and testing. An additional licensing fee of $25 will be sent to the Department of Agriculture and Industries by the applicant. The licensing fee is not included in the training and testing fee. Please plan to pay with a check (checks are preferred) made out the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) in the amount of $20 or with the correct cash amount.
