Description: The workshop will provide information on the following: Financial Literacy-Learn about creditworthiness, managing personal finances, record-keeping, budgeting, and how to apply for loans; Business Development-Learn business strategies, tips on how to develop a business plan and about other programs available to assist your business and farm operations; Leadership Training-Learn how to network and build strong community partnerships. Navigate your way to be an effective leader in sustainable agricultural projects; U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Programs-The USDA's Farm Service Agency, Forestry Commission, Rural Development, and the Natural Resource Conservation Service will discuss the microloan program, housing, and other programs available for socially-disadvantaged and limited-resource farmers, including new and beginning farmers and landowners; , Risk Management Strategies-Learn how to minimize production risks and other good agricultural practices, including produce safety, soil management, crop insurance, enterprise diversification, and utilizing value-added agricultural enterprises for supplemental income; Farmer Testimonies-Hear from other farmers about farming practices, programs and service, and what it is like to farm in the South; Farm Tours-To be announced at a later date.
