Description: Studies have shown that Alabama has the highest rate of Diabetes in the United States. The Right Bite Diabetes Cooking School is a fun way to learn how to enjoy delicious food that is prepared with less fat, sugar, and sodium. The program will provide excellent information that will help anyone preparing food to control diabetes, high blood pressure or any chronic disease. It is sponsor by Alabama Cooperative Extension (Elmore County Office). It will be 6 sessions that will cover: Portion control, Label reading, use of various sweeteners, choosing carbohydrate wisely, increasing fiber, choosing the right fats and control of high blood pressure. Description: This program will focus on management strategies for recreational fish ponds. Participants will receive information on techniques to properly manage ponds for good fishing, liming, fertilizing, pond fertility, maintaining pond balance, the control of aquatic weeds, as well as information concerning wildlife around ponds. Participants are invited to bring a water sample and/or a weed sample for identification or testing.
