Description: Join Cherokee County 4-H for a 4-H Canning Workshop on June 6th in the Chamber Room of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. This workshop is open to Cherokee County youth, ages 9 to 18, as of 1/1/17. Space is limited to 12 youth. Youth are allowed to bring one adult with them, if they wish. There will be a fee of $5 per participant due upon registration. Registration deadline is May 30th. To register: Please come by the Cherokee County Extension Office, located at 1526 Chesnut Bypass in Centre. We are open M-F from 7:45 am to 4:30pm. We closer for lunch from 12 to 12:45 pm.

Description: Today's Mom is comprised of a series of six lessons, each containing clearly stated goals. Each lesson consists of verbal and written instructions along with interactive activities designed to help moms-to-be learn to make healthy diet and physical activity choices for themselves and their babies. Today's Mom lessons are designed for ease of preparation and implementation. Lessons are scripted to make delivery easy. Accompanying materials reinforce lesson concepts and make learning about healthy eating simple and fun. Each lesson includes hands-on activities, recipes, and more. Activities reinforce concepts in ways that are fun and interactive.

Description: Please join us for an educational meeting covering early detection and control of fall armyworms in pastures and hayfields. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 6 at the Coosa County Cattlemen's Building in Hanover, AL from 6:00 -" 8:00 PM CST. Dr. Kathy Flanders, ACES Entomology Extension Specialist, will discuss methods to control the fall armyworm in your pastures. You will learn how the armyworm's lifecycle impacts its' damage to your fields, and you will be better prepared for early detection and proper treatment to control the pest. The event is free of charge, but please RSVP because a meal will be served according to RSVP numbers.

Description: QuickBooks for Farmers is a two evening class to train farmers on using the basic features of QuickBooks Pro accounting software. The first evening will cover building a sample farm file and entering sample data. The second evening will review a completed sample farm's year-end reports. This allows students to see a full year of QuickBooks data.
