||The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will hold the 18th Annual Beekeeping Symposium on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Auburn University, Lowder Business Building, 415 West Magnolia Avenue, Auburn University, AL.
John Grafton, Former State Apiarist, Ohio Department of Agriculture will speak about "Are we Winning the Pest and Disease Battle?" Some other presentations titles are: Dr. Kathy Flanders, Extension Entomologist and Professor, Auburn University will present "Insecticides and Bees - Review of the Issues"; and via streaming video, Dr. Reed M. Johnson, Department of Entomology, The Ohio State University, will discuss "Unexpected Effects of Mixed Insecticides Within the Colony".
There will be four presentations just specifically for new beekeepers and a wide range of topics for beekeepers with all levels of experience.
Registration is from 8:00 a.m.-8:45 a.m. and the program is from 8:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided by the Alabama Beekeepers' Association. There will be an open hive demonstration (weather permitting) during the lunch.
If prepaid by January 21, 2013, the registration fee for the day is $20. After January 21 and at the door, the registration fee is $30. For more information contact Dr. Paul L. ||The workshop will focus on Small Ruminant Healthcare, Gastro-Intestinal (GI) Parasite Identification, Feeds & Feeding, Forages, Nutrition, Pasture Management, Animal Selection, Genetics, Marketing and Funding Opportunities for Small Ruminant Production and FAMACHA Training.
