| Description: |
CANCELED DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION
There is a growing interest in restoring the longleaf pine ecosystem. Many believe that restoration includes clearcutting an existing stand and replanting with longleaf pine seedlings. But increasingly, and possibly even more importantly, we need to consider the restoration of existing mixed forests. Methods to restore the ecosystem are driven by multitude of factors including objectives, site quality, and past management history. This course will introduce you to silvicultural methods that can be used on a variety of existing forest sites. The use of fire as an important tool in the restoration process will also be discussed.

In recent years all cattle producers have been affected by the increased costs associated with feed, fuel, and fertilizer. During these challenging economic times, many producers have begun to explore options to our "traditional" farming practices. This meeting will explore the advantages of using haylage as a means of storing high quality forages. |
