Description: The Calhoun County Cooperative Extension is proud to announce they will be hosting Camp Cane Creek this summer at the Cane Creek Gardens! Participants will be taking : • Junior Master Gardener Classes • Junior Master Conservationist Classes • Arianna’s Nutrition Expedition Classes The camp will begin July 9th and go for four weeks ending August 3rd. The activities will begin at 8:00 A.M. and end at 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. The cost is $60 per week for kids ages 6-12. You can sign up your child to attend at the Calhoun County Extension Office, 1702 Noble St. Suite 108, in the Calhoun County Administration Building. Description: The Community Health Aerobic Motivational Program Initiating Optimal Nutrition (CHAMPION) was designed to improve the overall health of children, teens, adults, including the elderly through lifestyle changes such as adopting obtainable and safe eating practices, daily physical activity, and improving behavioral habits to aid in the prevention, intervention, and maintenance of chronic diseases. There are many stages of this program for all audiences. Children and teens under the age of 18 will only be taught nutrition education and the importance of physical activity. Individuals age 18 and older participate in the weight management component that includes classes on nutrition, physical activity, and chronic diseases.
