Description: To assist limited-resource pregnant teens and adults with babies up to one year of age to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behaviors necessary for nutritionally sound diets and to contribute to their personal development and to the physical development and the nutritional welfare of the fetus and mother-to-be. Participation in the program should result in the following: *Improved diets and nutritional welfare for the mother-to-be and the fetus *Increased knowledge of the essentials of human nutrition *Increased likelihood of seeing a health care provider early during pregnancy *Increased ability to select and buy food that satisfies nutritional needs *Improved practices in food production, preparation, storage, safety, and sanitation *Increased knowledge of the effects of lifestyles choices *Increased ability to manage food budgets and related resources such as WIC, Food Stamps, and commodity foods *Increased knowledge of available community resource agencies and other assistance organizations *Improved fitness skills for overall health
