Description: Learn "What Agriculture Has To Offer You In Coosa County"! Come join the Coosa County ALProHealth Coalition on September 27, 2016, as they tour Rora Valley Farm and Eagles Roost Herb Farm In Coosa County. The tour bus for the trip will pick up at 8:30 a.m. from Rockford Baptist Church, 9575 US Highway 231, Rockford, AL and will travel to Rora Valley Farms in Hanover Community, Eagles Roost Herb Farm in Hissop Community, and return to Rockford Baptist Church around 2:00 p.m. Tour topics will include information on: Natural Vegetable Production, Composting, No-Till Production, Planting, Pest Management, Herbs, etc. The tour is free but pre-registration is required by Thursday, September 22, 2016. Seating is limited to 33 participants. Call the Coosa County Extension Office at 256-377-4713 to reserve your seat. Please bring a sack lunch. Beverages will be provided.

Description: Today's Mom is a nutrition education program for moms-to-be. Today's Mom was originally developed in 1987 as a nutritional approach to combat infant mortality in Alabama, which had the highest rate in the nation at the time. The leading contributor to infant mortality is low baby birth weight of less than 5 pounds. Today's Mom teaches moms-to-be nutrition along with healthy lifestyle choices to help ensure successful birth outcomes. Eating well can help moms-to-be have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. In conjunction with diet, physical activity can help them have a more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery. Today's Mom aims to improve the dietary and physical activity habits of moms-to-be in ways that are sustainable before, during, and after pregnancy.

Description: The Farming 101 program will be held at the Lee County Extension office on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The first class begins September 6th, and the last class is on October 11th.
