Description: The EOLS curriculum provides hands-on activities for teaching students about watershed science, and provides educators with the skills and platform to involve youth in citizen science focused on water quality. During each 2 day workshop, participants will be certified as water monitors and will learn how they can certify their students as 4-H AWW Water Monitors. In addition, staff of each Environmental Center will provide unique programming that represents what they have to offer educators and students.

Description: Join Cherokee County 4-H for two fun days of paddling and education. Participants will learn water safety, paddling basics, what to wear, and how to behave on the water. On Day #2, youth and 4-H leaders will take a 4 mile float trip down Terrapin Creek with Terrapin Outdoor Center. Practice safety and team work while discovering our County's native turtles (Terrapin) and a variety of fish species.

Description: 4-H RiverKids is a kayak paddling instruction program that focuses on water safety, conservation, and environmental stewardship. This program is for Cherokee County youth, ages 9-18, as of 1/1/16. Limited to 10 spots. Registration lasts until July 1st or until all 10 spots are filled, whichever comes first. Registration fee must be paid for a spot to be held. To register, please come by the Cherokee County Extension Office located at 1526 Chesnut Bypass in Centre. We are open Monday-Friday from 7:45am to 4:30pm. We close each day for lunch from 12-12:45pm.

Description: Participants will enjoy digging into the fun of gardening. Camp will include a make and take planting, seed and soil explorations, and a sweet garden harvest snack. Everyone is ask to bring a shoebox to camp. Open to ages 8-18. Registration closes a week prior to camp day.

Description: Today's Mom is a nutrition education program for moms-to-be. Today's Mom was originally developed in 1987 as a nutritional approach to combat infant mortality in Alabama, which had the highest rate in the nation at the time. The leading contributor to infant mortality is low baby birth weight of less than 5 pounds. Today's Mom teaches moms-to-be nutrition along with healthy lifestyle choices to help ensure successful birth outcomes. Eating well can help moms-to-be have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. In conjunction with diet, physical activity can help them have a more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery. Today's Mom aims to improve the dietary and physical activity habits of moms-to-be in ways that are sustainable before, during, and after pregnancy.
