CHARACTER EDUCATION
CHARACTER LEADERSHIP
Alabama 4-H and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System are pleased to provide you with Leading with Character lessons to help your school to become a School of Character. You may copy and distribute these as needed for classroom use. The lessons provide teachers in grades 4-8 with an instructional tool to help implement Alabama's Accountability Law (Act 95-313). All lessons focus around one of the six character pillars: Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Character pillars have been identified by the Josephson Institute of Ethics' CHARACTER COUNTS!sm program. The links below go to lesson plans for various grade levels. Lessons may be easily adapted for younger and/or older youth.
It is our hope that these lessons will provide Alabama teachers with meaningful, easy-to-execute lessons as well as deliver a tool that can enrich each student's life through character building.
