Dale County

Approximately 144 4-H’ers participated in the 4-H local baked foods competition in December. The entry pictured is from Ariton Elementary School and followed a Christmas theme. Winners in the local competitions will compete in a county 4-H event in February.

Dale County

Dale County 4-H’ers designed and made Christmas ornaments for a Christmas tree that was located in the Dale Co. Government building. Over 400 ornaments adorned the 10 ft. tree. Ornaments varied by design from a soda can angel to a light bulb Santa. 4-H’ers were challenged to use a recycled item, include the 4-H emblem in their design, or use an object found in nature. The 4-H Christmas Tree was on display through the holiday season.

Dale County

Wiregrass Region Outdoor Sports Day was held on November 10 at Camp Alaflo. 4-H’ers participated in various outdoor activities. Participants learned the basic skills of archery, skeet shooting, air rifles, fishing,, and made fish prints after a lesson on the anatomy of a fish. Everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch and played various outdoor games.

Twenty-five Dale County 4-H’ers and ten parent volunteers participated in the fun filled day.Dale County 4-H Livestock Club and the Dale County Junior Cattlemen’s Assoc. participated in the Ozark Christmas Parade. The theme for this year’s parade was “A Patriotic Christmas”. Shown riding on the entry is Marley McCauley, Kennedy Peters, Kimber Willis, Abby Himburg, and Shelby Windham. Thanks to these 4-H’ers for braving the cold weather to represent Dale County 4-H.

Dale County

“Peanut Pride” was the theme for this year’s National Peanut Festival Exhibit. Dale County 4-H’ers showcased the things that represented their pride in Dale County such as: a helicopter for military pride of Fort Rucker, Claybank Church for pride in our rich heritage, a 4’H’er and his steer for pride in 4-H achievement in Dale County and agricultural products for pride in our local farmers.  The Dale County 4-H won the first place blue ribbon in the County

4-H Division.
