EGGERT’S SUNFLOWER
(Helianthus eggertii)
|
Description: A tall (to 2.5 meters) plant that is smooth and has a blue-waxy coloration. Yellow flowers (3 inches) bloom in early August to mid-September. It is often found in uplands with full sun or partial shade near other tall herbs or small trees.
Forestry Considerations: This plant can probably tolerate light thinning and would benefit from periodic burning or mowing to maintain open habitat.
Distribution by County: Currently found only in Blount county. |
