Lee Stribling 1985-1990

Extension forestry coordinator in the Auburn University School of Forestry
was named the first W. Kelly Mosley Environmental
Professor in October of 1985.

Dr. Stribling began his career at Auburn University October, 1985 in a split appointment as Assistant Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist in the Department of Zoology and Wildlife Science, now in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.  That position remained vacant for many years prior to Stripling's hire.  Dr. Stribling created a demand for programs in all aspects of wildlife where none had existed.  Animal damage control, youth education, and wildlife management were the focus of his programs and a great number of publications.  These programs grew to the point where another wildlife specialist was hired in 1991 to meet requests.

Dr. Stribling was one of the first split appointment extension specialists to receive tenure and gain promotion under the new system.  He demonstrated how a research appointment can be coupled with an extension appointment to enhance both sides.  He has conducted research and produced scientific publications on many aspects of game management and economics of hunting.

Larkin Wade 1990-1993

Extension forestry coordinator in the Auburn University School of Forestry
was named the first W. Kelly Mosley Environmental
Professor on January 1, 1990.

Mr. Wade joined Auburn University in 1965 as Extension Forester in the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service.  He served as head of the Extension natural resources group from 1975-1986 and served as coordinator of Extension forestry programs from 1986 to 1993.   Mr. Wade served as the project leader for the Mosley Enviromental Awards Program when it first began in 1979.  In 1987 the project leader title was changed to executive secretary.

Mr. Wade developed successful Extension programs and funding mechanisms for professions, youth and adults for twenty five years.  He received the Excellence in Extension Award from the Auburn Alumni Association in 1985.  The rank of Professor was conferred in 1988.

The awarding of the Mosley professorship was for Mr. Wade's efforts to integrate forest values such as timber, wildlife, soil, water and aesthetics, a process that began on the Mosley property in Marengo County 25 years ago.
