Cultivating Safe, Affirming and Fair Environments in Alabama (Be SAFE)

Alabama Cooperative Extension System is using a program called Be SAFE to help communities and schools reduce bullying behaviors. Be SAFE focuses on the prevention of bullying, bias, and harassment by building positive social and emotional skills for youth ages 11-14. Through engaging youth in conversations and activities that can help them manage distressing emotions, become more empathetic and self-aware, we can help schools become safe, affirming, and fair environment for all youth.

Through this 7 week program, the overall goals of Be SAFE are to:

  • Promote social and emotional learning and development
  • Address and reduce bullying
  • Prevent bullying behaviors by tapping the wisdom and assets of youth and adults
