Lesson 3: King Henry's Meat Group

 

Time saving activity:

Have the classroom teacher complete the scales for the wall dragon. Make sure you leave a sufficient number of dragon scales for students. If it's OK with the teacher, have students cut out the dragon scales. If the teacher completes the scale activity, record 15 minutes on the “Teacher Monthly Time and Effort Record.”

 

Suggested food preparation:

  1. Small cup with 1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds, shelled

  2. Confetti Bean Salsa

    Serve with low-fat tortilla chips

  3. Reindeer Faces

  4. Little D's Kabobs

  5. Pineapple chunks

    Cheese cubes

    Ham, cubed or cut into 1-inch squares

    Have the children assemble a mini-kabob using one ham square, one pineapple chunk, one cheese cube and a skewer. Note: Buy the long wooden (bamboo) skewers and cut in 3-4 inch lengths.

  6. Cowboy Caviar

1 can black eyed peas, drained

1 can black beans, drained

1 can whole kernel corn, drained

1 can diced tomatoes

Italian salad dressing (go easy to lightly coat)


Mix together and serve with low-fat tortilla chips.

 

Suggested take-home message for parents:

NOTE: Provide teacher with enough copies for each student in the class to take home to provider.
