  1. Alabama is ranked 2nd in the nation for overweight and obesity.  (CDC)
  2. 15% of youth in Alabama are overweight (CDC, 2005 YRBS)
  3. Overweight and Obesity contributes to the development of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and certain cancers.  (Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005)
