Ban on Poultry Litter as Cattle Feed Creating Challenges for Some Alabama Producers      

AUBURN, Jan. 30, 2004 --- Jimmy Collins, a Chambers County beef producer, has already paid for six truckloads of poultry litter yet to be delivered to the family farm near Cusseta.  Collins Farm, a family operation started in the mid-40s, has been using litter as part of its winter feeding plan for its large herd of brood cows since 1976. FDA Ban on Poultry Litter Feed Challenging but Not Catastrophic, Expert Says

Alabama Teams Compete at National Western Stock Show  

Auburn, Jan. 27, 2004 --- Two Alabama teams competed at the recent National Western Stock Show in Colorado.  Tuscaloosa County placed second in meats judging, just nine points behind the first place team.  Pickens County placed ninth in livestock judging out of a field of 24 teams.  (More...)

2004 Alabama Horse Fair Targets Southeastern Horse Enthusiasts

Auburn, Jan 14, 2004 --- Look for hundreds of horse trailers on the roadways as the weekend of January 24 and 25 approaches.  That’s when Alabama horse lovers from throughout the state will  gather at the Alabama State Fairgrounds and Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery for the Alabama Horse Council’s annual horse fair.  Last year’s event drew some 10,000 people from across the Southeast – horse owners and non-horse owners alike.
