WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT 2000 STATE 4-H CONGRESS

AUBURN, JULY 21---State 4-H winners in more than 30 categories were recognized and presented ribbons, scholarships and other awards at special ceremonies held July 9-13 during State 4-H Congress.

More than 400 4-H'ers, volunteers and Extension agents attended the four-day state congress "Exploration 2000: Choose Health!" on the Auburn University campus.

The 2000 state scholarship winners are as follows:

Lindsey Waters, Tuscaloosa County, a $500 Forestry Scholarship

Stephen DeAngela, Mobile County, a $600 Citizenship/Leadership Scholarship

Addie Gullatte, Lee County, a $1,000 Volunteer Association Scholarship

    More than 70,000 Alabama youngsters, 9 to 19, take part in 4-H programs in the state. 4-H is sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System through the aid of state and county governments, U.S. Department of Agriculture and adult and older teen volunteers.
