Jackson Receives Distinguished Service Award Auburn, September 6, 2002 - Dr. Katie Welch Jackson, Alabama Cooperative Extension System's multicounty Extension Agent, EFNEP, has been selected as national winner of the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest award NEAFCS bestows on its members. Jackson was awarded for her "outstanding work as an Extension educator in leadership, educational programming and professional development," says Christine Kniep, NEAFCS president. Jackson holds a B.S. from the University of Alabama, an MAT from the University of Montevallo and an Ed.D. from Auburn University. She has been an employee of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for 29 years, a member of NEAFCS for 27 years. She has served as a 4-H agent, FCS agent and is presently a supervising agent with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. Jackson will receive her award at the 68th Annual Session of the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences on October 9th in Kansas City.
