New
Technology at the Sunbelt Ag Expo
Auburn, Sept. 20---Farmers
from Alabama and around the nation will have the opportunity to see
some of the latest in farming technology at this year's Sunbelt
Agricultural Exposition.
More than 1,100
exhibitors and thousands of visitors are expected to attend the
Expo, set for Oct. 16 to18 in Moultrie, Ga.
"We are proud to
showcase one of the largest venues of agricultural technology in the
world," said Chip Blalock, Sunbelt Expo executive director.
"Every year, farmers are able to take information and new
technology garnered from the show and directly apply it to their
operations."
The Expo, established in
1978, has expanded to become the largest farm show in the world with
on-site field crops and demonstrations.
Silage corn and
turfgrass will be showcased in field demonstrations in addition to
the traditional demonstrations in cotton, peanuts, hay, corn and
soybeans.
"Our 600-acre
working farm makes us unique," Blalock said. "Visitors see
the latest tillage and harvesting techniques in a true farm
setting."
A precision agriculture
section will highlight efficiency on the farm. The latest in
auto-steer tractor technology will be showcased, and producers will
have the opportunity to test drive tractors with auto-steer
capabilities.
Animal care is another
component of the Expo. More than 20 major breeds of cattle will be
on display in the livestock arena as well as swine, small ruminants
and ratites. There will be seminars on beef cattle management and
horse demonstrations.
Other sections of the
show include small farms, forestry, lawn and gardening, hunting and
fishing, and family living.
The Sunbelt Ag Expo is
located 4 miles southeast of Moultrie, Ga. Admission is $5 per
person per day. Children age 6 and under are admitted free with a
parent.
