AUBURN, JULY 9---The Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Troy State University will host the seventh annual 4-H Performing and Creative Arts Camp July 25-30 at Troy State University.

The week-long camp serves as a catalyst to explore youth issues and provide productive, creative and cultural experiences. The camp is open to Alabama 4-H'ers ages 12-19. Registration begins Sunday afternoon, July 25. The camp features workshops and field trips during the week and concludes with a grand finale performance Friday, July 30 at 2:30 p.m. in the Adams Center Theatre.

Camp workshops include: acting, music, dance, costuming and make-up, technical theatre and art. Each participant selects a major and works toward the grand finale on Friday.

Mr. Ray Smith, an assistant professor in the TSU Department of Music, serves as camp director. Smith develops the script and music for the camp. Students in the TSU music and theatre departments assist Smith with workshops and rehearsals.

"Troy State University is excited to serve as co-host for the 1999 4-H Performing and Creative Arts Camp," says Smith. We look forward to providing the 4-H'ers with exciting and fun-filled learning and performance experiences."

"This year's performance will be Lil' Abner, and all the famous characters from Dogpatch will be there," says Smith.
