Auburn Bull Sale Slated for Jan. 19

The 52nd Annual Auburn Bull Test Sale will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena on the Auburn University campus. The facility will open at 7 a.m., so prospective buyers can inspect the bulls. The sale begins at noon.

Sixty-five bulls representing seven breeds will be sold. The top indexing bull for the Auburn Bull Test, an Angus bull from Richburg Cattle in Auburn, will be the first bull sold.

Bulls will be sold by breed with the top senior age and top junior age bulls selling first, then the remaining bulls, ranked by their final index scores, within the breed will be sold.

Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson, an animal scientist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and test supervisor, says producers will have the opportunity to purchase quality bulls for their operations.

"It's a good opportunity for commercial producers to purchase quality bulls that have the potential to vastly improve their herds in the coming years," says Kriese-Anderson.

The AU Animal Science Judging Teams will offer a dutch lunch at 11 a.m., while members of the AU Block and Bridle club will work the ring during the sale.

For more information, contact Kriese-Anderson at (334) 844-1561.
