FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CONFERENCE SET FOR NOV.



AUBURN, SEPT. 3---The 20th annual Alabama Fruit and Vegetable Growers Conference will be held Nov. 10, 11 and 12 at the Holiday Inn, South in Dothan.

Featuring more than 50 speakers from across the United States, the conference will provide growers and potential growers with the latest information and technologies concerning fruit and vegetable production.

The conference will emphasize cultural practices, management techniques, and marketing concepts and opportunities. Included are special sessions on drip irrigation and the use of plastic mulch.

A special farm tour will highlight Thursday's activities.

The conference is open to all interested persons but growers are encouraged to attend Wednesday and Thursday sessions.

This year's conference should be one of the best of its kind in the country, says Dr. David Himelrick, an Alabama Cooperative Extension System horticulturist and conference coordinator.

The initial session will begin Nov.10, at 1p.m. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. A discount is offered to those who pre-register.
