Field Day and Open House Set for Auburn Bull Test
Auburn, Dec.
4, 2003 --- A beef cattle management field
day will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Auburn
University Bull Test Facility. The field day will feature
demonstrations of new fencing, automatic waterers and electronic
identification tags.
Producers will be
able to see the latest in high tensile fence for cross fencing or
perimeter fencing. They will also learn how they can interface their
scales with electronic identification tags.
Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson,
an animal scientist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System,
said participants will have the opportunity to look over the bulls to
be sold at the 54th Annual Auburn University Bull Sale in
January.
“It’s a great time to
check out the bulls and make initial selections on bulls to bid on
come Jan. 17,” said Kriese-Anderson.
She said complete data on each bull,
as well as the sale catalog, will be available at the field day.
In addition to the demonstration of
new products, Kriese-Anderson said tours will highlight recent
renovations to the bull test unit.
“The facility upgrades increase the
bulls’ overall well-being and improve our ability to manage both their
care and critical issues such as nutrient management and erosion,” she
said.
The Auburn University Bull Test Unit
is located on Shug Jordan
Parkway between South College
Street and Wire Road.
