Midwinter Teen Leadership Retreat Celebrates 4-H Centennial With a Green Carpet Affair

The 2009 4-H Midwinter Teen Leadership Retreat was Feb. 13-15 at the Alabama 4-H Youth Development Center in Columbiana. The theme of this year's event was A Green Carpet Affair. Youth celebrated the 100th birthday of Alabama 4-H in Hollywood style.

One hundred twenty youth from more than 30 Alabama counties participated. Leadership activities were planned and developed by 4-H teen leaders, Alabama Cooperative Extension personnel and Alabama 4-H supporters.

Youth participated in a variety of workshops addressing topics on career development, public speaking, theater arts and dance. Youth also completed two community service projects. One project involved putting together care packages for military personnel and the other was making cloth corsages for volunteers who selflessly serve Alabama 4-H and the region.
