Back to Basics Horse Institute Planned at Auburn
An educational symposium for horse owners and managers
The event sponsored by the Auburn University Department of Animal Sciences features speakers from the Auburn College of Agriculture and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System as well as veterinarians from Auburn and from Fort Dodge Animal Health, a national animal pharmaceutical company.
Topics will include preventative health care, first aid techniques for horses, weed control and grass maintenance in pastures, fire ant control, body condition scoring, horse nutrition and maintenance of safe facilities.
The registration fee for this one-day event which includes lunch is $50 for adults by March 20 and $60 after that date and at the door. Youth under the age of 18 can preregister for $25 ($35 at the door). Doors open at 8 a.m. and the official program begins at 9 a.m.
