Sallie Lide-Hooker Receives National CFLE Designation
Sallie Lide-Hooker, an Alabama Cooperative Extension System regional agent based in Dallas County, recently received the National Council on Family Relations’ Certified Family Life Educator designation.
The CFLE designation recognizes professionals in the field of family studies as qualified family life educators. The credential denotes that Hooker has a proven background and knowledge in 10 family life content areas including families and society, internal family dynamics, human growth and development, human sexuality, interpersonal relationships, family resource management, parent education, family law and public policy, ethics, and family life education methodology. She completed 90 educational hours and presented a portfolio addressing 10 family content areas with regard to education, additional training and experience, before receiving her certification.
Hooker, a native of Dallas County, received a bachelor of science degree in vocational economics from Alabama College (University of Montevallo) and a master of arts degree in home economics education from the University of Alabama. Employed with Extension for 10 years, Hooker has worked in 4-H and Youth Development and Family and Consumer Sciences. She is the daughter of R.M. “Mac” and Zula Clark Lide. She and two adult children currently reside in the Sardis community.
More than 1,300 family life educators have received CFLE designation since 1985. The National Council on Family Relation’s CFLE educators work in a variety of settings including service agencies, mental health centers, colleges and universities, community education, secondary and elementary schools, military family support centers, corporations, family planning agencies, hospitals, day care centers, faith-based organizations, education departments and private practice.
