2006 Environmental Education Association of Alabama Conference March 9 - 11
"In Our Backyard" is the theme of the Environmental Education Association of Alabama 2006 Conference. Teachers will learn about a myriad of creatures that inhabit backyards as well as discover what naturalists have to teach us about our environment.
The conference is scheduled March 9 through 11 at the University of Montevallo, and members and nonmembers are welcome. The event features some of the most dynamic and entertaining naturalists and teachers in our own backyards. Highlights of the weekend event include a swap-meet on Thursday evening, canoeing the Cahaba, visiting an active quarry to find fossils, romping through Ebenezer Swamp or getting a sampler of Flying WILD, the newest environmental education curriculum guide.
Friday and Saturday features include a choice of field trips, a silent auction and concurrent sessions on Raptor Neighbors, Fossils in Alabama, Backyard Crafting, GPS, Tree Identification, and Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
If you register by Feb. 10, cost is $65. After Feb. 10, registration is $75. Registration cost includes all speakers and teaching sessions, three meals, and a one-year EEAA membership. Registering for a field trip entitles you to one additional meal. Teachers can also receive CEUs for attending.
