Organic Vegetable Conference to Focus On Production, Marketing
Alabama vegetable and fruit growers interested in growing organically can gather valuable production and marketing tips from horticulture experts and veteran organic farmers during a one-day conference in Birmingham Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The 2005 conference,
Dr. Greg Hoyt with North Carolina State University will discuss nutrient management for organic farms as well as the use of different tillage methods and cover crops.
Also scheduled to speak at the conference is Dr. Joe Kemble, a horticulturist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, who will discuss saving seed as well as the basics of plant breeding and variety performance. Don Wambles, director of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, will talk with producers on how to market their products at the state
