National Poison Prevention Week is March 20-26
Every year an estimated 66,000 U.S. children under age 6 are involved in common household chemical-related poisoning or exposures, and poisonings result in almost a million visits to emergency rooms.
In an effort to prevent such tragic events, the federal government has declared March 20-26 National Poison Prevention Week. First authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Kennedy in 1961, National Poison Prevention Week is an annual event aimed at raising public awareness of the risks associated with unintentional poisoning and promoting prevention measures.
