Grape Juice by a Nose
Great news for health-conscious teetotalers: New research shows Concord purple grape juice scores higher in a key, natural plant antioxidant than another other fruits or beverages tested including red wine, tea, cranberry juice cocktail and apple juice on a per serving basis.
The wonder ingredient: proanthocyanidins --- one of countless flavinoids found in fruit-derived beverages believed to safeguard against cancer and heart disease. Grape juice contains 124 milligrams of the flavinoid per 8-ounce serving compared with 91 milligrams per 5 ounce serving of red wine.
