ScopiaDesktop Configuration

To configure ScopiaDesktop, you will need to access the client program. If you have installed it properly, and restarted/rebooted your computer, the client can be located in your Windows Taskbar near your clock. It is the circular, wheel shaped icon. This is usually in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

Right mouse click on the client to access the menu. You will choose “Settings…”

Settings will give you information on many parts of the client. We will be focusing on the Audio, Video, and Advanced sections.

Select the Audio Tab.

This page will allow you to configure and test you audio settings. You may have multiple choices for the Record and Playback devices for your computer. Generally the default that the client chooses will work. If you are using a webcam, you really want your recording device to be the microphone on the headset. Do not choose the webcam as the recording device unless absolutely necessary. Using the webcam microphone can cause a lot of echo and background noise.

Click “Start audio test”.  You should hear yourself “echoing” if it is setup correctly. Try different combinations of the record and playback devices. Choose “Save” when complete.

After your audio is working correctly, select the Video Tab.

This page allows you to choose your Video Capture device (if any). Choose the appropriate Device and select preview. If you see yourself, then it is setup correctly. The example above shows the Logitech Quickcam selection.  Save your settings.

Select the Advanced tab.

There are several settings under Advanced. We are interested in one setting under the Network section.

Scroll Down until you see Network.

Network settings under Advanced.

Check the “Maintain High Quality Audio In Lower Bandwidth Conditions” option.  Save your settings.

This should complete the configuration of the client. You can exit the Conference Client Control Panel by selecting the X in the upper right hand corner of the window. You should be able to fully participate in ACESAG videoconferences via your PC at this time!
