How to Share a File or Folder in Windows 95

To share a folder with other people:

1 In {My Computer}, click the folder you want to share.

2 On the {File} menu, click {Properties}.

3 Click the {Sharing Tab}, and then click {Shared As}.

You can also share disk drives by using the method described above.

To specify your computer with a descriptive name:

1 Double-click on {My Computer}, {Control Panel}, {Network}.

2 Click the {Identification Tab}.

3 DO NOT CHANGE your computer name and workgroup name. These have been assigned by Computer Technology. BUT, YOU CAN type a description, if you want. This will be visible to other people on the network when they look at a listing of network computers (in the Network Neighborhood with the View set to Details).

To open a shared folder on another computer:

1 Click {Start}, {Find}, {Computer}.

2 Type in the Computer name.

Once you find the other computer, you can see what folders and printers are being shared.

3 Double-click the folder you want to connect to.

You may want to assign a drive letter for shared folders that you connect to often.
