Virus Information for ACESAG Users


A program to detect and remove Back Orifice from your PC is available on the ACESAG FTP server at the following URL: ftp://ftp.acesag.auburn.edu/pub/win95/antigen ACESAG users are encouraged to download the antigen program and run iton their PCs as needed. Click this link to FTP the "antigen.exe" file, and save it to the C:\ACENET folder on your hard drive.


The following instructions give details on how to download the Antigen file, and run the program.

Some computers will not be able to perform the following functions in Netscape. If your computer is the county server,and you use Netscape Communicator, then you should be able to download the file as instructed here. Otherwise, please useFTP in Internet Tools to download the antigen.exe file.

Instructions:

  1. Click the Antigen link listed above.
  2. The next screen will list two files, Click the antigen.exe file.
  3. The "Save in" dialog box will appear.
  4. Check to see that the file will be saved in the Acenet folder.
  5. If you do not see the Acenet folder in the "Save in" box, then you will need to change the folder location by clicking on the drop down list. Double click the C drive, then double click the Acenet folder.
  6. Click Save to save the antigen.exe file to C:\Acenet.
  7. Click the Back button on the Netscape toolbar to return to these instructions.
  8. Close Netscape.
Once you have saved the antigen.exe file to the Acenet folder, then follow these steps to run the Antigen program:

Instructions to Run Antigen:

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click the C drive.
  3. Double click the Acenet folder.
  4. Double click the Antigen.exe file.
  5. Follow the instructions on screen.
  6. The program is very simple, and will only take a few seconds to run. Once it is finished, then you simply click the Close button or the Exit Antidote button (either will close the program).
