TO CREATE A SIGNATURE FILE ========================== From the main ACESAG menu, select User Utilities Menu. Next select the ASCII File Editor (PICO). Note the file editor options listed at the bottom of the screen. It looks and feels alot like writing a message in PINE. Begin typing in your signature as you would like it to appear. Remember to keep it to 4 or 5 lines in length. If you need more information added than 4 or 5 lines, make two columns of information using the tab key to space over and align the second column. You may also use a separator character, such as the pipe character "|". When you have the file ready to save use the Ctrl-O option to "write-out" the file, which is how you save it in with this editor. When it asks for filename, be SURE to use ".signature" - include the period but don't include the quotes. Any other filename will NOT be recognized by PINE to be automatically included in your email messages. To leave the PICO editor, use Ctrl-x to exit. Press "m" to return to the main ACESAG menu. *************** What if you have a .signature file already and want to change it? Use the steps below to edit your .signature file. TO EDIT A .SIGNATURE FILE ON ACESAG: =================================== From the main ACESAG menu, select User Utilties Menu. Next select ASCII File Editor (Pico). The file editor options are listed at the bottom of the screen. First you have to get the file that you want to edit. Use the Control-R command to read in the file you want to edit, which will next ask for the file name. In this case it is .signature (be sure to include the period and type the filename in lower case). Edit the file as needed. Now save it by using the command Control-O to write out the file, which is how the file is saved. You probably will want to use the same name, so just hit enter if the name is correct. To exit, press Ctrl-x. Press "m" to return to the Main Menu. *************** Need more help? Contact admin@acesag.auburn.edu for additional questions.
