Onions give a good return for the space occupied and should be included
in every garden in Alabama.
For green onions, plant seed as soon as the soil can be worked in the
early spring. Two to four rows of onions on each bed maximize yields.
Plant seed about 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep. Most green onion varieties
are ready for harvesting within 80 to 90 days from seeding. |
