Extension works with the Department of Human Resources, Headstart,
hospitals, and doctors to provide the latest information on health and nutrition. Our Nutrition
Education Program (NEP) teaches nutrition education in the schools, Headstart
programs, adult education classes, and senior citizen groups. The Expanded
Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) teaches young mothers how
to prepare for the baby's arrival and its nutrition after birth. |

With many homemakers and people interested in canning and preserving,
food safety, and low-calories recipes, Tallapoosa County Extension
continues to help provide them with the latest food and health tips.
A Family Consumer Science newsletter is developed and mailed out four times
a year to over 800 families. Each Christmas, a recipe booklet is
published to help make the holiday season fun. |
And recently, a new program, Walk! Alabama, is held each March to
encourage people in Tallapoosa County and Alabama to get out and walk for
good health.
