The
timber
industry is under going rapid changes and landowners must be aware of
these changes. For years, large timber companies were purchasing
land all across our state but in recent years that trend has reversed
to the point that they're selling their land in the United
States. How will this affect your timberland? To help you be aware of the latest information that may effect the decisions you may make related to your timberland, the Tallapoosa County Treasure Forest Association and the Tallapoosa County Forestry Planning Committee is sponsoring a forestry seminar that will address, "Global Markets and the Future of the Forest Industry". Richard Hall, Vice-President, Timberland Services, Bank of America from Atlanta and Frank Walburn, Vice-President and Timber Fund Manager, AmSouth Bank in Birmingham will share their knowledge on this topic. Landowners from Clay, Coosa, Lee, Tallapoosa and surrounding counties are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. This program will be held at the Alexander City Sportplex Senior Citizen's Building on March 2, 2006 beginning at 5:45 p.m. If you're interested, call David Kelly at the Alabama Forestry Commission Office at (256) 825-4244 (please leave a message).
