- Warm-season perennial weed.
- Spreads by slender, creeping stems that root at the nodes.
- Kidney-shaped leaves grow opposite each other along horizontal thin stems.
- Small, green, and inconspicuous flowers are produced along the stem.
- Thrives in moist soils but cannot tolerate freezing temperatures.
- Reproduces by seed and stolons.
Control Methods
- Hand Removal or Hoeing
- Herbicides:
- Postemergence - atrazine* or combination of these products:
[dicamba**, MCPP**, 2,4-D**, and/or 2,4-DP**]
* Excellent tolerance in centipede and St. Augustine grass.
** Use lower rates on centipede and St. Augustine grass.
Do not use within the root zone of desirable plants, especially dicamba
