4-H
County Baked Foods
Contest

1. Four-Hers ages 9-13 will participate as juniors; 4-H'ers 14 (on or before January 1, 2000) or older will participate as seniors.

2. Select recipes which include nutritious ingredients rather than mainly fats and sugars. Nutritious ingredients include fruits, vegetables, cereal and grain products. Each 4-H'er will plan and prepare an attractive exhibit of two baked foods including each of the following:

    • Cookies - one dozen, must be baked (no candies), no mixes, or commercial cookie doughs.

    •
    • Cake or quick bread - may be layer, bundt, or one which remains in the pan in which it's cooked - nothing that requires refrigeration; no mixes.
3. Your exhibit should fit on an area about 30 inches by 30 inches -- the size of one card table. You may bring your own card table or use a space on one of the conference-size tables which will be provided. Remember to keep your exhibit simple and neat, yet eye-catching and attractive. You may want to choose a color scheme, use a table cloth, and accessories. Use appropriate attractive containers for exhibiting your baked items. However, it is the food that is most important.

4. Exhibits will be scored as follows:

Baked Foods - nutritional value; uniform shape, color, and size; texture appropriate for the product; appealing general appearance; and pleasing flavor 30 points

Exhibit - attractive, clean, original and creative, orderly and balanced, simple and neat, at least one copy of recipes available - may have multiple copies.
