The unusually warm weather that we are having may encourage you to fertilize your lawn too early. Our recommendation is not to apply spring fertilizer to lawns until after the first of April.
Should we have a severe cold snap after you fertilize, it could do serious damage to your lawn, particularly centipede lawns. I have seen nurseries that force centipede grass out early that lost their complete stand because of late cold.
Be patient! Don't fertilize too soon.
