On long weekends like the one we just had, thats usually just where you would find me, partaking in one or several of those activities. These past weekends which as you all know was Memorial Day Weekend, our family had quite a different experience. First of all, we had 2 graduations to attend. Vincent, my second son, graduated from Auburn High School on Friday night. Cathy and I both feel time slipping past us as our boys grow up. We are grateful to the many instructors, teachers and administrators of the Auburn City Schools who consistently provide nationally recognized quality education for young people. All three of our boys have and are currently benefitting from the high standards set by this school system. Sunday, my nephew Christopher Richard graduated from John Carroll High school up in Birmingham. John Carroll is also my alma mater. 2008 is the thirtieth anniversary of my graduation from John Carroll. Where do the years go? As the graduates paraded across the stages to receive their diplomas, I recognized familiar last names, DiChiara, Angel, Schwemilar, and lots more. These no doubt were the children of some of my former classmates. However, we were there for Christopher Richard who finished at the top of his class and delivered the valedictorian address to his classmates. Approximately 30 family members attended this event and we are so proud of Christopher for his scholastic achievements. If two graduations were not enough, my oldest son Trevor and I attended Mayor Bill Hams Memorial Day Breakfast honoring our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy in the good ole USA. Mayor Ham recognized all the war veterans in the audience which included several who had just returned from Afghanistan and Iraq, my son Trevor included. Doug Watson, our former city manager was recognized with Distinguished Veteran Award and gave a most inspirational address to the audience on heroes. General Hal Moore, one of our most famous local military heroes was recognized, honored, and quoted numerous times during the ceremony. There is so much behind the scenes work that these heroes do that benefit society not only here in America but in the whole world that we may never know. However, the saddest part of this celebration was recognizing and honoring those fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price of their life, so that we could enjoy the freedoms here in America we sometimes take for granted. Even with all the formal celebrations we attended this past weekend, I do have to admit we found the time to get a little wet in the lake and fire off the old barbeque grill. Ive always enjoyed Memorial Day which is the official beginning of summer for folks everywhere. However, this year the Browne household adjusted their schedule somewhat to recognize our graduates and fallen war heroes. h-0h% ? @ $ % ,1h/ =!"#$% T@T Normal,5B*CJOJQJ_HaJmH phsH tH DA@D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No List ?@$% 0000000000000000000 8@0( B S ?ٯk}oٯkToٯktٯkٯkzoٯkl1ٯkKٯk~oٯk#ٯkԯٯkHٯkTٯkQٯk#ٯkqٯk<ٯksouzIYY yT]] B *urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagscountry-region8 *urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsCity=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceType=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceName9*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsplace u|NSITY]u}Y d %-0a@ ,]W P@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z ArialA& Trebuchet MS"hFF #r4d 2KX)?%2aMost of the time, I m a barbequing, boat floating, scuba diving, fishing and canoeing kind of guy Oh+'0(4H T` dMost of the time, Im a barbequing, boat floating, scuba diving, fishing and canoeing kind of guy Normal.dot 2Microsoft Office Word@G@@ ՜.+,0X hp :ACES, CoAg, AAES ' bMost of the time, Im a barbequing, boat floating, scuba diving, fishing and canoeing kind of guy Title !"#$%&()*+,-.1Root Entry FeQ3Data 1TableWordDocument.SummaryInformation(DocumentSummaryInformation8'CompObjq FMicrosoft Office Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.89q
