National Conference

2010 National 4-H Conference Application
Date of Conference: March 20-25, 2010
The application for the 2010 National 4-H Conference must be received in its entirety by December 7, 2009 by the state office.
What is National 4-H Conference?
At the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture, this event is the USDA’s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth from across America in developing recommendations for the National 4-H Youth Development Program. Very much a “working conference”, the delegates’ product at week’s end will help to guide the future of the National 4-H Youth Development Program. Delegates also act as ambassadors for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Alabama 4-H, representing Alabama 4-H interests in with Congressmen and Senators on Capitol Hill Day. The Conference brings together youth, volunteer leaders, and Extension staff members from across the United States, its Territories, and the Canadian Provinces.
2010 Alabama Application Requirements

Applicants must be Senior Level II (ages 16 through 18) members.

Application must be completed fully and received by December 7, 2009.

Alabama 4-H application, pages 1 and 2 only, typed.

My 4-H Story (maximum of 2000 words or 5 minutes DVD/CD).

Two reference letters; including one from Extension staff signing application.

Submit four copies of the application packet by December 7, 2009.

The decision of the Selection Committee is final. Delegates will be selected and announced by January 7, 2010.

National Congress

November 27 through December 1, 2009
Shellby Sands was selected to attend National Congress.
What is National 4-H Congress?
“Accept the Challenge” will be the theme for 2009. Opportunities will be provided for the delegates to accept the challenge to learn, to interact, to reach out, and to make a difference in their home communities. The conference will make full use of the learning venues in the city including Centennial Olympic Park, The World of Coca-Cola, CNN Center, the Carter Presidential Library, and the Martin Luther King Center. Leadership skills will provide the foundation for all workshops. Recreational and networking opportunities will abound. Visit www.national4-hcongress.com for more information.

4-H Summer Camp

Wednesday June 9 though Friday June 11, 2010.
Alabama 4-H Center, COLUMBIANA, AL
Summer Camp is a great three day two night experience.
We will begin accepting payments on November 1, 2009.
The total cost of $100 includes transportation from Scottsboro to Columbiana, air conditioned accommodations (dorms & cabins), delicious family style meals, memories that last a lifetime are FREE!.
A $25 Non Refundable Payment will reserve your spot!
The three remaining payments can be made monthly through March 2010.

Summer Enrichment Tour 2010
Kentucky, Indiana, & Chicago
July 19-23, 2010
Join us for an exciting summer tour!
The 2010 Summer Enrichment Tour is open to any youth between the ages of 9 - 19. The youth will be accompanied by trained and knowledgeable adult chaperones consisting of mostly Extension Staff. This high quality educational experience will be limited to the first 106 applicants. Tour Prices include the following: 4 days/4 nights Lodging at Hotel, All Transportation including Charter bus to and from, Indianapolis 500, Corvette Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Henry Ford Museum, Chicago Tribune, Museum of Science & Industries, Field Museum, Sears Tower, Adler Planetarium, McDonalds University, Six Flags and Medieval Times Dinner.
