Who Can Participate:
All ages of active, bona fide 4-H Club Members
Requirements for Persuasive & Informative Speeches:
Your speech must be new and original. You cannot copy it directly from an existing speech,
news article or anything that someone else has written.
Parents and adult volunteers are encouraged to assist or coach the 4-H member with the
speech, but they must not write or research the speech for them.
Visual aids, costumes, and props are not allowed.
Subject matter must be on a topic that explores the challenges and opportunities of youth,
families, and society. It must be a topic of importance and interest to the audience that
includes both young people and adults from rural communities or cities and different
backgrounds.
All speeches will be given on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:30 PM in the downstairs
courtroom of the Crenshaw County Courthouse.
Age Divisions:
Junior Level I: 9-11 years of age
Junior Level II: 12-13 years of age
Senior Level I: 14-15 years of age
Senior Level II: 16-19 years of age
