Arbor Day Poster Judging Guidelines

  • School winning posters must be received by February 10, 2006.

  • Posters must be the original work of a student currently in the fifth grade. A student may enter the contest only once.

    The use of cartoon characters or television, movie, or sports figures is not acceptable. The use of business or company names should not be included anywhere on the poster.

  • Posters must be complete, signed, and submitted with the school winner form.

    All artwork on the posters must be finished and the artist’s legible signature must be in the lower right-hand corner on the front. There must also be a completed school winner form, or a copy of the form, submitted with the poster.

  • Posters must be created in one of the specified mediums and must be within the size limits.

    • Posters may be done in marker, colored pencil, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic, or tempera paint.
    • Collages are not acceptable. (Do not glue anything on your poster.)
    • Posters may be any size between and including 8 ½" X 11" and 14" X 18". (Please note size - many posters are disqualified each year due to being the wrong size.)
    • Computer generated art and printing is not acceptable.
  • Posters must be flat. Folded, matted, mounted, laminated, or framed posters are not acceptable.
  • Entries must be done on paper that will allow for duplication, display, and framing.
  • The poster must be related to the contest theme in some way. The 2006 theme is "Trees are Terrific... in All Shapes and Sizes!". The theme must be on the poster. Any and all writing should be spelled correctly and easy to read.
